Comedy Bang Bang: The Podcast

Genre: Comedy
Format: Audio

Ranging from wacky and absurd to plain old entertaining, each episode begins with a quick interview with the week's celebrity guest and quickly transforms into a full-fledged improv show starring real (but not) icons and fictional characters.

I've been listening to CBB since 2013, so it's become my personal marker of aging (grimace). Scott Aukerman and co. have kept me company throughout my erratic young adult years, gloomy commutes, daily errands, and laundry days. If you have a wild imagination and love others with that same quirk, give it a listen. It's a podcast that satisfies my inner child and love for playing pretend like no other; I can always count on it for belly laughs.

Random Order

Genre: Comedy
Format: Video, audio (I watch the video 99% of the time)

Like a day in high school where you have a substitute teacher who couldn't care less about what you do, while, in the background, the class clowns joke about pop culture, life in Toronto, and the Black and Jamaican experience. These guys have a knack for turning the most mundane things into ridiculous but hilarious discussions.

Most times I've had to rewind either because they were already laughing before getting to say their joke or because I couldn't believe they really said whatever they said. My default podcast pick-me-up. Plus, their edits are top tier.

Sounds Like a Cult

Genre: Culture
Format: Audio

An examination of modern-day communities, groups, and trends that seem questionable under the surface.

I admit, I am fascinated by how cults snowball into what they are and have watched every cult documentary available on Netflix. However, it is a heavy topic that I don't always have the appetite for on a regular day. This podcast takes a lighter approach on the phenomenon by delving into the cult followings of Disney Adults, Erewhon, Reborn Dolls, and other things that are popular for reasons I may never understand. More than anything, it also gives me the chance to re-evaluate any uninformed judgments I may have of a group.
